It would seem that having a place called “Friendship Park” designed with the intention to facilitate meeting your relatives, who cannot cross the border into your country, would be a good idea, except these people would interact through depressing, “jail-looking” huge metal bars. Located on the border between San Diego,US and Tijuana,MX, such a place existed once. For many years, this was a place where families would reunite and the situation of being “together” through the border wall was normalized, just as we normalized the US-MX fence as a disruptor of ecosystems.
This project is a series of AI generated visualizations exploring alternative versions of this place based in a multi-agent conversation where they were prompted to think, explore and propose possibilities. The five characters are: a conservative politician, a materialistic influencer, a tree, a pirate ai agent and Sibila, a fictional, synthetic lifeform designed as an interface between technology and ecological systems, that interacts with environmental elements such as algae, fungi, bacteria, light, and moisture through sensory and feedback systems.
These variations go from abstract, utopian to dystopian scenarios with some others implying neither but rather an accelerated form of our present.
